To Like or not to Like

This is the very famous Facebook 'Like' feature.

Basically, what this feature does is that it enables you to 'like' your friends' status or activities. Let's assume that John Doe and Jane Doe are two of your best friends.

For instance,

John Doe is in a relationship with Jane Doe

Okay, it's normal to like that.

Press 'like' and you'll get thing like this:

Now consider this:

John Doe is in the state of shock upon knowing that an earthquake just struck Slumberland.

Will you 'like' this?

If you're a person who regards 'like' as 'I agree', then you probably would. However, put yourself in the shoe of a victim of the earthquake in Slumberland and somebody is liking a tragedy that happens to you, you'd probably feel awful that someone actually 'likes' the misfortune that happened to you!

So, the question remains... to like or not to like?

Good point. I think people generally take too many things for granted these days.
